Brand My Island

Placement Terms

What a dollar buys here

These terms are an agreement between two parties: you, the sponsor, and me, Gabriel Schmalz, an individual in Brazil who runs Brand My Island and owns the phone. This is policy version 2026-09-04, and a Claim keeps the version it settled under.

What you buy

You buy a Claim, which makes your Placement the Current Placement until a later Claim displaces it. A Claim has no fixed duration, promises no hours on screen, and comes with no count of people and no guarantee that iOS keeps the Live Activity visible.

The price

You pay whole US dollars in full before anything else happens. The Minimum Takeover Bid is the Current Price plus the greater of one dollar or ten percent, rounded up to a whole dollar, and an empty island starts at one dollar. Nothing is held or reserved for you, and when a later Claim displaces yours, I owe you no refund.

Two things are refunded in full, automatically: a Bid that settles below the Minimum Takeover Bid because another Bid settled first, and a Placement that fails the checks at settlement. The Merchant of Record sells you the Placement in its own name and issues your receipt.

Your Placement

Your Placement is a brand name of up to 24 characters, one line of up to 90, and one HTTPS destination. Once it settles it cannot change. The presentation is mine, so it carries no logo, colour, or font of yours. I check the destination at submission, at settlement, and daily, and every check fails closed. I refuse login gates, downloads, wallet prompts, shorteners, raw addresses, and flagged categories.

Quarantine and Claim Invalidation

If a check fails or a notice reaches me, I put the Placement under review: the island and the page show a neutral state, the Claim keeps its price and stays open to Takeover, and you have 48 hours to reply by email. If the notice is confirmed or you do not answer, I invalidate the Claim: my own Placement returns, the next Bid resets to one dollar, and I owe you no refund. The record keeps the price and the dates and withholds the text. I never restore a predecessor.

Display Sessions and Phone Live

I announce a Display Session when I intend to run the phone. Some sessions are cancelled, some never start, and some go quiet, and all of them stay on the record. Phone Live means the phone has confirmed within the last 3 min that the Live Activity is up; the phone reports once every 60 seconds. Phone Live says nothing about who was looking.

Placement Proof

Placement Proof is the website status and the screenshots I take on my own device, cropped to the island and the clock. They are mine, and nobody else has attested them. When a Claim is invalidated I withdraw its screenshots. Every Claim gets a permanent page that states confirmed display as a duration.

Paid Placement, and the posts

Every sponsor's Placement is paid, and the page says so. My own floor Placement is the one exception, and it is labelled as mine. I may post a Takeover from my own account, marked as a paid partnership, and I may also decide not to post it; a Claim without a post is not a lesser Claim.

Apple

Display on the phone depends on an Apple developer certificate, which Apple may withdraw. If it does, the Placement leaves the phone, the record stays, the last Claim stays the Current Placement, I accept no new Claims, and I owe you no refund, though I will offer one.

Permanence

Claim History is public, append-only, and permanent. It never carries your identity or a failed payment. If I stop running the site, I accept no new Claims and the record stays up.

Liability and support

My liability to you is capped at your Bid. I answer support by email at support@brandmyisland.com within five days, and a notice about unlawful content goes to the same address.
